Would you and/or do you borrow money from friends?

Do you / would you only borrow money from people that you were in a relationship with?
I just heard an interesting perspective. One said they'd only borrow money from folks that they were in a relationship because the level of intimacy is deeper. Then they were like...think about it, relationships are built upon sex and money. Friendships are not.
I'm chewing on that like it's grape flavored bubble gum.

Ok, I've been lurking for a bit but I'll start commenting now! If I really needed to borrow money I would prefer to ask a close friend instead of a romantic partner. Unless I am engaged to the person, I just don't feel comfortable asking a man for money. Part of me feels that by asking a man for money, I will either lose some sense of independence or I will feel obligated to him for more than the amount of money I borrowed.
