Because life is so simple, right? And our judgments on other people's situations are always correct, right? Everything is so cut and dry, right? It's productive and healthy to muse over situations in which you aren't a player, right?

Unfortunately, I think we all do this. I think the difference is to what degree to we participate.
I agree; however, at times I see that folks tend to have a preoccupation. It's one thing to have a chat about it and then keep it moving. But to bring up the same issue time and time again...eeek!
