It clashes so heavily with culture, health and common sense. For example, people will disrgard rules about not having pre-marital sex, but will obey rules about not using any forms of birth control.

McCain Administration's newest idiotic attempt at writing Catholocism into law is a bill that aims to redefine abortion. From the WSJ, "A draft regulation, still being revised and debated, treats most birth-control pills and intrauterine devices as abortion because they can work by preventing fertilized eggs from implanting in the uterus. The regulation considers that destroying "the life of a human being."
I pick my bone with Catholicism because the law is essentially consistent with the rules around why a woman is not supposed to take birth control.
