Friday I met a young attractive fellow. Our first conversation was great. He secretly slipped out that he's somewhat of a conspiracy theorist. After listening to him skim the surface of some of his curiosities, I asked, "have you watched Zeitgeist?" His eyes got big and he felt like he hit the jackpot in me.
I was taken aback because usually young (28) hot guys don't hold my interest. I was adament in not putting out good time girl vibes, and I let him know...I'm not out here looking for "a good time." I want to get to know people and see if we are compatible. Well, we spent 5 hours talking on the phone last night, which is something I haven't done since I was in high school.
Most interesting is our view on religion. He first directed to a George Carlin clip on youtube which summarized his overall question about religion. Essentially, "So you want me to believe that there is a invincible man in the sky..." I found his views on religion to be even more interesting becasue contrary to me, he grew up going to church every Sunday. But we both concur that there is a lot to be questioned about religion (Christianity).
The following movie, Zeitgeist, is a conspiracy theorists dream movie. It is broken up into 3 parts 1) Religion 2) 9/11 and 3) Federal Reserve.
The religious part outlines the fact that Jesus was not the first figure to be born of a virgin...essentially the story of Jesus is borrowed from other religions / mythical stories. I don't think it's a coincidence that the Jesus is the "son" of God and the Sun used to be the most respected/worshiped physical object observed by those on earth. Most people are brought up in a church and discouraged from asking quesitons about religion. I've come to accept that my concept of faith is saying..."I may not believe in the literal sense of many things, but there is a powerful story with powerful lessons."
I'd suggest that you play the video in the background (listening to headphones). The first 10-15 minutes are pretty slow. Actually I suggest going straight to the 14th minute, as that's where the questioning first starts. If you watch between the 14th and 25th minute - really...what is your reaction? Did you already know some of that information? Do you think these things are coincidence?
